Message from Monsignor Murphy

Dear Alumni and Friends of Central Catholic,

Central Catholic High School is very excited to announce Celebrating the Decades, the Fifteenth Annual President’s Dinner and Auction featuring comedienne Lily Tomlin.

As our theme indicates, we will be honoring our seven decades of Catholic educational service to the metropolitan Portland community. We have named seven honorary chairpersons –

one to represent each decade. Our cast of stars includes:

Bill Moore ’46, Joe Van Haverbeke ’58, Gregg Miller ’66,

Brent Jacobs ’72, Aimee (Van Beek) Virnig ’83, Adrienne (Williams) Mahoney ’92, and our currently-reigning student body president, Chloe Tims ’10.

For all the family, personal, and school histories that each of these designees carries, they offer a reminder of the continuity in family presence; a hallmark of Central Catholic through the years. Five of the seven can claim multiple generations at Central Catholic; no better a statement regarding one of the strengths of our community. In approaching our annual springtime celebration, may we each take with us the “ties that bind,” and may we be living reminders of where our true strength lies.

As is often the case with Central Catholic, there are many who become a part of the evening, whether in planning, working, or contributing gifts or dollars. This year promises to be no different. We look forward to your participation either as a committee member, a guest, or both!

Mark April 24, 2010 on your calendars and organize a table for the evening. It will be a great night to reconnect with friends, laugh with Lily Tomlin, and support Central Catholic High School.

Please join me in Celebrating the Decades!

Sincerely in Christ,

Msgr. Timothy Murphy ’58

President Emeritus
