Although Central Catholic embraces a diverse range of academic abilities, we clearly engage some of the brightest and the best students at Central Catholic as evidenced by the following academic achievements: Currently we have three students in the National Merit Scholarship Program Semi Finals. Tim Bauman, Alexander Hanemann, and Ryan Whitehurst are in the top 2% of all high school seniors across the country who are now competing for 8,200 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $35 million. Approximately half of all of the finalists will win one of these prestigious college scholarships. In addition, Damas Gakwasi has been recognized in the National Achievement Scholarship Program, which is an academic competition established in 1964 to provide recognition for outstanding Black American high school students.
Also, students at Central Catholic have achieved an impressive result on the AP Calculus BC exam. One hundred percent of our students who took this exam passed. In addition, eighty-five percent of our AP students who took the English Literature Composition exam passed. Passing these exams earns students college credit.
National Honor Society
Approximately 13% of our students are members of the National Honor Society.
NetClassroom
At Central Catholic we know that academic success depends on knowledge about current academic standings. Often high school students are unaware how one assignment or test score can impact their overall grade. Using NetClassroom, students quickly learn to manage their academic performance better when they see how their hard work can pay off. Central Catholic provides parents with up-to-the-minute tools to find out how their student is doing:
Academic information is easily shared between teachers, parents, and students. Parents may check schedules and grades conveniently from home or the office. NetClassroom also allows students to view daily assignments and grades from a secure web site. Click here to access Netclassroom.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher conferences are an opportunity for parents to check-in with teachers. Formal conferences will be held twice a year. Two days of conferences are scheduled in the fall and one evening in the spring. Teachers are available in a posted location during the set time period. Conferences are on a first come first served basis and generally last about 5 minutes. Students are welcome to attend the conference with their parents. |
