ADMISSIONS

Welcome and thank you for your interest in our school.  A Central Catholic High School education prepares you for a changing world by creating real world opportunities and challenges.

It’s not just college prep academics; it’s higher order thinking and a wide array of co-curricular activities that encourages students to discover and express themselves. It’s not just a diverse socio-economic student population; it’s a place where you learn to make a difference.  It’s a vibrant place where you get a globally-relevant education.

We combine all the modern tools, technologies and techniques of the best schools in the country with people who have a commitment to a Christian, values-based education. This is what young people need today, tomorrow and into the foreseeable future.

Of course, I think Central Catholic High School is the best option for incoming freshmen and transfer students! However, it is a very important and very personal decision. We welcome you to come visit us and decide for yourself.

You are always welcome!

Our Students Get A's – Academics, Altruism, Arts, Athletics, and Awesome Teachers

How did you do? Did you get an A? How many times were you asked that as a student and how many times have you asked your own kids that very same question? The value of a letter grade has been debated over the decades and although we like to think that grades don't matter, the reality is, they do. At Central Catholic High School we know that how important our role is in helping our students achieve in the best ways possible and as the school year comes to a close we are also asking ourselves "How did we do?  Did we get 'As'? Did our students get 'As'?” In the past we heard about the "three Rs”, but in the present, here at Central Catholic, we talk about the "five As” – Academics, Altruism, Arts, Athletics, and Awesome Teachers.

Academically we offer our students the best teachers, resources and educational environment possible. Our teachers come to us with credentials that often exceed our requirements and also bring with them their own varied interests and personal accomplishments. Equally as important as their resume is their commitment to encourage and guide our students toward achieving their best academically. As a result, our students get the best of what they have to offer. The blending of selfless teachers with devoted leadership; solid traditions and a modern environment; all help prepare our students for life beyond these walls.

Grounded in Catholic traditions, we strive to maintain our Catholicity while opening our doors to all students willing to consider the Divine message. We instill the importance of embracing one’s spirituality not only through religious education, but by putting words into actions through our Christian Service program. The many local agencies that serve the Portland community provide countless opportunities for our students to be involved. Whether helping with the less glamorous jobs like the Bridal Veil Franciscan Clean-Up or more “red carpet” venues like the escorting teens at the Providence Child Center to their Prom, our students leave Central Catholic with a spirit of altruism that prepares them to be contributing citizens of the world.

At Central Catholic we demonstrate a commitment to the arts by offering our students a rich and diverse curriculum. The theater program is one that amazes every year when out students present two full drama productions. Their involvement spans acting, set design and technical direction. Our music program is thoroughly entertaining with several musical performances during the year and is soon to be enhanced with the introduction of electronic music classes. Our visual arts curriculum is all encompassing with traditional as well as computer based art forms. The Fine Arts program at Central Catholic is overflowing with talent and potential and we are happy to showcase this in many ways throughout the year.

The strength of our Athletic program is not only in the many noteworthy athletes that have gone on to professional careers, but the hundreds of unsung heroes as well. Having won many state championships over the years, we are an athletic program to be rivaled. We support eleven sports teams, several of which are no-cut. As athletics enrich a student’s life, in turn our athletes bring their positive values and spirit of teamwork into the community. Our coaches give tirelessly of themselves and their time in order to keep the caliber of our Athletic program high and have helped develop one of the best sports programs any local high school has to offer. Go Rams!

Central Catholic’s teaching staff is second to none. We are proud of the outstanding credentials our teachers possess. Not only do they offer our students the highest standard of education, they really know our students. Most all of our teachers not only are committed to educating our students to the best of their ability, they  dedicate their time outside of school hours to organize clubs, coach sports, volunteer for service projects and in general be available for any student desiring extra instruction. Our teachers are awesome!

As an institution we take pride in our mission statement:

"Central Catholic High School is a college preparatory school committed to educating the whole person within the Catholic community. Central Catholic focuses on the moral development and particular gifts of each student, challenging the individual to develop spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically - and to live as a Christian witness in service to others."

As a college preparatory school, we believe we do get A's and we know our students do as well!
